These Apple rumor sites remind me of the “Is it live or is Memorex?” commercials. Today’s rumor is the iPod AV, a touchscreen relative of the iPhone. And there are pictures to prove it:

Of course, the pictures are fakes: Why would Apple use the a virtual click-wheel interface on the touchscreen version instead of something closer to the iPhone’s interface? Plus, where’s the power button? Do you turn it on by shaking it? Even the vaunted iPhone has a power button. It’s obvious that Apple will come out with a touchscreen iPod at some point given the early success of the iPhone. Maybe Macworld 2008? Until then, enjoy the rumors.
