Lasar’s Letter on the FCC blog is wondering whether Cisco has ambitions to run the FCC’s proposed national public safety network.
Lasar is reading between the lines of a Cisco filing endorsing the FCC’s proposals, which were outlined in December. Lasar quotes a few paragraphs from Cisco’s filing, including: “”The fragmented and inefficient system for licensing public safety entities has been inadequate to the task of meeting the communications needs of public safety entities, and the Commission is right to depart from that broken model by embracing an IP-based broadband architecture to fulfill the promise of public safety communications.”
