First there were radio broadcasts, then there was podcasting, then podcasts of radio shows and the latest? Radio shows from podcasts …
Yep, an AM station in San Francisco, 1550 KYCY, owned by Infinity Broadcasting (who own just about every radio station there is) is morphing into KYOURADIO (geddit, k-your-radio) which will use only podcasts for its content transmitted over both the air and streamed over the Internet.
“Everyday we’ll feature new, innovative and cutting edge programs produced by people like you. Your original thoughts and sounds will be broadcast in San Francisco on the revolutionary 1550 KYCY-AM and streamed worldwide at KYOURADIO.com. We envision KYOURADIO as a station for the people. We think you have something to say and we want to hear it. You’re out there creating, riffing, ranting and raving and Infinity is going to give voice to your vision. In fact, we want to share it with the world.“
Our only disappointment with this idea is that KYOURADIO won’t be creating any podcasts from the podcasts it broadcasts removing any hope we have of hearing a podcast of a podcast of a podcast that creates an infinite loop of such dense content that it collapses into a media singularity.
