Veeam Software rolled out Version 4.0 of its Veeam Backup & Replication, with support for VMware’s new vSphere 4 vStorage technology. The vStorage API includes support for thin-provisioned disks, the ability to use changed block tracking for faster incremental backups and support for virtual applications (vApp). The vStorage API is replacement for VMware Consolidated Backup that provides backups from the SAN without impacting ESX hosts. Veeam Backup & Replication 4.0 is expected to be available in early October starting at $599 per socket.
