Promise Technology on Monday rolled out a new family of storage subsystems, the VessRAID storage systems. Designed for small and midsized businesses, the VessRAID storage system includes Serial Attached SCSI and iSCSI interfaces. The VessRAID also has power-scheduling features that let the system power-on from a standby mode to run backups and archives, saving as much as 70% over competitive storage arrays. In addition, VessRAID ships with One-Plug-Auto-Service capability, which allows management – when users plug a USB drive into the VessRAID, service reports, firmware upgrades and configuration script installation are automatically downloaded. The Promise VessRAID series starts at $1,900 for an eight-bay system and ranges to $3,099 for a 16-bay system.
