Point measurements of desktop performance are good in and of themselves, but they become even more powerful as a component of an overall baseline performance assessment. Nearly half of organizations Nemertes benchmarks do regular performance baselines for key applications, like UC, although they do not usually include desktop performance in those assessments. As performance-sensitive and mission critical communications applications increasingly run through the desktops, instrumenting desktops for performance monitoring and incorporating their performance into overall baselining will be key to setting and meeting realistic SLAs.
