Small businesses are discovering that providing employees with mobile computing power increases the value and productivity of IT and the employees themselves. According to a 2006 study by the Computing Technology Industry Association, as well as CDW Corporation’s 2007 Business Rearview Mirror survey report, small and midsize businesses (SMB) are making employee mobility a priority.

Microsoft and Smart Phones: The Android Awakens!: So says analyst Michael Dortch. ” Google announced its Android software platform for mobile phones and other devices … This is not great news for Microsoft and Windows Mobile, which is currently locked in a struggle for second place in the mobile operating system market.”
Microsoft looks to improve collaboration technologies, 11/06/07: Mobile computing is taking over. The superhero model for a typical IT worker is surely Batman, with a dozen gizmos hanging off his belt: smart phones, USB keys, MP3 players, cameras. However, Windows software developers who want their applications to synchronize data among those devices and with desktop clients, servers and web services… those developers often would prefer root canal surgery. Every Windows app that requires synchronization has had to be custom-crafted code; everything is built from scratch.
Podcast: Better patient care through wireless: Delivering patient date where its needed is key for any hospital. For Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, the company rolled out multi-campus wireless project to help get medical records to clinicians at the point of care.
