CES Video: SlingCatcher and Linksys Gigabit love
Our first video from CES is up and running, showing off the new SlingCatcher device from Sling Media, as well as a new 802.11n (draft) router from Linksys that includes five Gigabit Ethernet ports (four LAN, one WAN) and gaming traffic priorities.
Watch Slingbox content on other TVs
We’re big fans of Sling Media and its Slingbox, which connects to your home TV and lets you watch that content from around the country – for example, yesterday we watched the local New England Patriots post-game show from our Las Vegas hotel room (Las Vegas TV had already switched to the next game). To watch the content remotely, however, users have to watch it on a laptop connected to the hotel’s broadband network or on a mobile device over a high-speed WAN.
GPS data wrong? Now you can help
A major pet peeve of mine with GPS devices is that the street address data for my home address is always in the wrong place. The road is correct, but the location of my house is always in the wrong spot (the device usually says I’m home when I’m 3 houses away). Now, instead of just griping about the incorrect data, I can help the mapping company figure out the correct location.
CES planning: Celebrities, baby!
I’ve recovered from my self-imposed blog hiatus, just in time for the coming madness that is CES (click link for news). Over the next week, I’ll be schlepping across Vegas trying to look at as many different gadgets as humanly possible.
