* Gateway releases three Intel-based servers
endif; ?>Gateway this week introduced three servers that use the Intel Xeon 5100 processor.
The servers – the E-9520T Performance Tower Server, the E-9425R and the E-9525T – are available in 1U or 2U rack-mountable or tower-based configurations. They feature RAID on motherboard technology and are Serial Attached SCSI (SAS)-enabled. The servers support RAID 5 + Hot Spare and RAID 10 for increased redundancy and fault-tolerance. For additional high-availability, they sport redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and fans.
Each server also features Gateway Lights Out (GLO) system management technology and an optional keyboard, video, mouse (KVM) for remote management. With GLO, users can remotely shut down and restart their servers.
The servers can include SAS and Serial ATA (SATA) II drives in the same system, allowing customers to mix high-performance with capacity. They are designed to run SQL Server, Oracle, e-mail, file and print services and Web applications.
Next quarter, the company will offer an optional feature – System Management Integrated LCD (SMIL), which plugs into the front panel of the server and offers health and reporting status on the LCD.
The Gateway E-9520T Performance Tower features two dual-core Intel Xeon 5100 Series CPUs, six expansion slots and as much as 7.5TB of internal storage.
The E-9425R is a 1U rack-mounted server that uses dual-core Intel Xeon processors and the 5000P chipset. It is expandable to up to six hot-swappable SAS or SATA II hard drives. When configured with SATA II drives, it has a maximum capacity of 3TB.
The Gateway E-9525R Server is a 2U rack-mounted server that supports up to two dual-core Intel Xeon processors. It has up to six hot-swappable SAS or SATA II drives and two network adapters and five PCI slots. Using SATA II drives, it has a storage capacity of up to 4.5TB.
The E-9425R starts at $1,850; the E-9425R starts at $1,900; and the E-9520T Performance Tower starts at $2,200. The servers are expected to ship in mid-October.
