We may be divided by a common language, but it still interesting to see what our cousins across the pond think about IT. According to a recent survey by Cisco of 600 U.K. business and IT directors, more than three-quarters said their IT network is very important or vital to their business, but one in 10 still viewed the network as a “static pipe for data.”
Despite high-growth companies being twice as likely to have flexible working capabilities and seven times more likely to offer corporate-wide Wi-Fi, reports a story in ZDNet.co.uk, fewer than two-fifths of respondents said they allow telecommuting. This is also despite the popularity of telecommuting among U.K. techies – as found in a recent poll by silicon.com, which reported that nearly a third of respondents work from home every day – and business managers’ top concern of finding and retaining quality staff.
