The article continues by pointing out that “this isn’t a complete solution, but “merely” a successful breach on the DRM curtain wall of AACS encryption (and not the inner keep of BD+ copy protection)“. Maybe but I’d guess a full crack is just a matter of time … I really wish I could be surprised about this but Digital Rights Management without unacceptably complex hardware support can and will never work. The problem is that once something of value to more than one person has been turned into a stream of bits and been shared in any way it is impossibly to keep its distribution and use constrained. Just consider that iTunes 7 was hacked in a fraction over eight hours after its public release. If someone can build software there’ll always be someone else who can figure out how they did it.
