An out-of-this-world theory for Voyager’s trouble

Knowing that the vast majority of you are computer professionals of one sort or another, I am sure that you had this very same thought when you heard that Voyager was transmitting data back to NASA in an indecipherable format:

Must be aliens.

NASA would have us believe it has something to do with “a bit flip.”

That’s what they always say.
