Fewer than 20% using it now
Adoption of 10G Ethernet at the aggregation layer in the data center (for those that have a 3-tier network) also lags well behind core network deployments, with fewer than 20% using it now and only a third planning to do so within the next two years. In fact, it follows closely on 10G deployment at the edge: as IT finds a need for connecting servers or blade-chassis at 10G — say, to support video streaming for a conferencing system — they bring 10G into the aggregation layer to support that edge connection.
