Virtualization is NOT Cloud

So what is virtualization?

And for that matter virtualization is not just server virtualization ….and server virtualization is not just VMware (although kudos to them for establishing the brand they have). I like to encourage everyone to stop referring to virtualization as a technology and start thinking of virtualization as a strategy that improves IT asset utilization, streamlines IT operations and helps IT deliver services on demand. Virtualization across all tiers is an important ingredient to cloud computing, but not the only one. Network load balancing, firewalls and chargeback are some good examples of additional components required to make cloud computing a reality. And YES… it is possible to build a cloud without a hypervisor in sight.
