Desktop virtualization
Citrix introduced two new offerings expanding the opportunities for enterprise IT architects to deliver virtualized applications to their mobile users. Dazzle provides a self-service virtual desktop “storefront” for applications and Citrix Receiver now adds virtual desktop support for Android, Blackberry phones (in addition to previously released iPhone and Windows Mobile versions). The combination of Dazzle and Receiver indicates the growing importance of mobile devices as a near-replacement for laptops in many scenarios. Desktop virtualization combined with a mobility strategy brings a large number of enterprise applications such as word processing, presentations and spreadsheets to a very broad range of devices. With mobile devices are increasingly replacing laptops, virtualization can bring more of the popular applications to these devices, improving employee productivity on the road.
