Convert CapEx to OpEx
In this tight economy, IT is continually looking for ways to convert capital expense (CapEx) to operational expense (OpEx). One way is to move IP telephony to a hosted model. Last week, BT and Cisco announced a partnership to deliver hosted IP Telephony. Using a per-user, per-month pricing model, BT Hosted IPT is built on its Onevoice UCC portfolio and 21CN global platform. Cisco Services will build the underlying infrastructure using Cisco and third-party hardware and software. Until recently, Nemertes found limited interest in hosted VOIP with fewer than 18% of organizations using or evaluating a hosted solution, partly do in part to provider’s limited geographical coverage. Recent feed back from IT practitioners indicate increasing interest in a “pay as you go” model. BT’s global reach and expanding of services to include additional UC functionality align with increasing customer demands.
