The majority of companies still keep VoIP monitoring and management in-house, though the trend is toward managed services, according to Nemertes Research. Most commonly, IT departments can’t make the numbers work. In other words, they have an internal cost structure (say, an existing 24-hour NOC with the required expertise already on staff) and moving to a third-party service would be more costly.
