* Newsletter name change - and a new research center
Welcome to the newly renamed Network Architecture newsletter, in which we will be taking a broader look at the infrastructure behind today’s networks.
We started out this newsletter years ago with the title of High-Speed LANs, then changed to LANs & Routers. The new name of Network Architecture, as I see it, gives us the freedom to discuss many aspects of networking, from design to implementation, from strategic to tactical.
I’ll continue to pass along news that I find interesting, will discuss topics that I think are important to network architecture, and will look for your feedback.
I’m also overseeing the newly renamed (and related) Research Center at Network World called LANs & WANs. The Research Center is updated every day with news and features about LAN and WAN architecture and the products that comprise it. For example, if you go there today, you’ll see our story on Lucasfilm’s network architecture and another story on how Cisco identifies its next billion-dollar businesses.
We chose five primary subtopics, each with its own page linked from the main Research Center: Broadband Services, Ethernet Switches, Metro Ethernet, MPLS and Routers.
The subtopics could change, but each subtopic page links to more specific stories and – if we’re doing it right – highlights our best content on those topics.
As we readjust our lineup, please feel free to send me feedback. We’re doing all of this for you, the reader, after all – so we want to know what’s working and what’s not.
