* Emerson releases horizontal row cooler for high heat density environments
Emerson Network Power, the maker of cooling products for data centers, introduced recently a horizontal row cooler for high heat density environments.
The Liebert XDH horizontal row cooler is part of the Liebert XD family of cooling products. It is modular and delivers high-efficiency cooling by positioning it close to heat sources.
The Liebert XDH is designed for data centers where overhead space may be limited because of cabling or low ceiling height. It sits within a row of racks in a hot-aisle, cold-aisle configuration, which draws air from the hot aisle and moves it to the cold aisle and discharges it where the electronic equipment air inlets are located. It is capable of cooling a 30KW rack and has flexible piping to allow it to be repositioned without disrupting cooling.
The device uses a waterless pumped refrigerant to cool data centers. According to Emerson’s claims, the use of refrigerant results in better cooling than chilled water-based versions. It eliminates the potential for water damage in the event of leaks and uses 30% less power than traditional cooling systems. If the refrigerant leaks, it turns to gas upon exposure to air.
The XDH comes in two models: the XDH20 and the XDH32. The XDH20 draws 500 watts of power; the XDH32 draws 1200 watts. The XDH20 has a nominal capacity of 22kW, compared to 32kW for the XDH32.The unit has dual power cords for uptime and dual refrigerant circuits.The Liebert XDH starts at $4,400 and is available now.
