Search engines at Lycos and Google yesterday felt the sting of a worm attack. While the attack wasn’t specifically aimed at them – the worm was just using the search engines to get e-mail addresses – the latest version of MyDoom has widened the field of battle.

Four-way server shows Sun’s commitment to x86

Sun Monday expanded its Opteron-based server line with a four-processor box to complement the Sun Fire V20z two-way server it began shipping in April as it seeks to convince business customers it’s serious about x86 this time around.

Watchfire in deal to acquire Sanctum

Watchfire, of Waltham, Mass., which makes the WebXM server-based scanning tool for accessing compliance with privacy issues, announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire security product maker Sanctum, for an undisclosed sum.
