Fiorina: Sometimes IT spending is a ‘bad thing’

HP’s Carly Fiorina says that this year’s fourth quarter is unlikely to show enterprise companies splurging on IT gear. As she correctly points out, for each of the last three years industry pundits have been saying that the fourth quarter would be the one where IT spending would go through the roof. Fiorina argues that the old models of IT spending are “bad,” and new, “good” spending doesn’t involve splurging.

New computer code that exploits a recently disclosed hole in Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Web browser is circulating on the Internet and could allow remote attackers to take full control of vulnerable Windows machines, according to warnings from anti-virus companies and Internet security experts.
