IT job changes afoot

If you’re worried about offshore outsourcing, don’t count on politicians to save your IT job. “They’re going to do nothing,” a corporate strategist said recently. Even so, the thing that will really cut into IT jobs isn’t outsourcing – it’s automation.

IBM’s deals highlight outsourcing

Recent outsourcing wins by IBM with companies such as Morgan Stanley, Shell Oil and Australian airline Qantas reflect the growth in the outsourcing market as companies look for ways to run their IT operations more efficiently, using both onshore and offshore resources.

NEC unit pleads guilty to defrauding schools

NEC-Business Network Solutions has pleaded guilty to defrauding a U.S. government program for school Internet connections, settling criminal and civil cases against the company through a $20.6 million plea agreement.
