Sanyo’s having a tough year, so to narrow its losses it’s doing what any normal company would do – asking its employees to buy lots of Sanyo gear.

The company is asking executives to each buy ¥2 million ($19,000) worth of Sanyo gear, while each worker bee “only” has to spend ¥200,000 ($1,900) on such equipment.

“The workers could include purchases by friends and relatives in their buying amount,” according to Japanese news reports.

If every one of the company’s 35,000 employees met their “buying goal”, Sanyo’s bottom line would be boosted by ¥16 billion ($155 million).
