Beware knock-off iPod gear

For iPod fans, outfitting their favorite device can cost nearly as much as buying the unit in the first place. Between travel gear, adapters, headphones, speaker systems and cases, you can sink a pretty penny.

That’s why iPodlounge is warning users about the proliferation of knock-off iPod accessories. The site, devoted to all things iPod and independent from Apple, is warning users that these counterfeits may not work, or worse-case scenario, can damage your unit.

The site reports Apple has launched a “Made for iPod” branding program, which means products bearing that logo have been tested and approved by Apple.
