Google held its first ever analyst day last week, which left prognosticators with little information, except for a fabulous grilled pork tenderloin recipe.
At these shindigs, the CFO usually make a presentation. Not at Google. Instead, “CFO George Reyes gave a brief introduction, took a couple of questions, but didn’t give a presentation,” writes The Register. But – and this is the cool part – you know who did? Google Chef Charlie Ayers, former Grateful Dead chef, who explained the aforementioned pork tenderloin.
“They had a formal presentation by their chef but not their chief financial officer,” Mark Mahaney, American Technology Research told the New York Times. “I have never been to an investor day where the CFO didn’t speak.”
The Register says the GOOGs didn’t share a lot of new information – a tactic that works well at Binion’s, but fares poorly with analysts.
