Microsoft apparently thinks leetspeek is the devil, as it has published “A parent’s primer to computer slang: Understand how your kids communicate online to help protect them”.
Even better, this primer runs in the “Security at Home > Child Safety” area of Microsoft.com. We don’t know many 13-year-olds enjoying 1337 – but more power to them if they are. We can’t dechipher any of it, even with Redmond’s glossary.
In the squarest tone possible, Microsoft breaks down the 1337 for the uninitiated, including: “Rules of grammar are rarely obeyed”. Run for the hills!
