If, for some reason, you weren’t glued to the ‘Net yesterday you may have missed the news that pseudo-celebrity (Ed. – And that’s being generous) Paris Hilton found her T-Mobile Sidekick hacked over the weekend. Her personal photos and notes, as well as the phone numbers of her fellow beautiful people, were released to the mercies of the Internet. As usual, there was no mercy.
We don’t condone hacking, of course, but it’s pretty amusing that other C-listers like Victoria Gotti, Fred Durst, Ashlee Simpson and many others received hundreds of calls in the wee hours of Sunday and had to subsequently change their numbers. We won’t even get into the amusing notes she wrote herself or the NSFW self-portraits she enjoyed taking with her Sidekick.
The AP has the straight scoop here, with frighteningly comprehensive Gawker coverage here.
T-Mobile and the feds are investigating how this happened. If you remember, last month the carrier let slip that its servers were hacked extensively last summer, but only ‘fessed up to the breach recently.
