We got a screaming press release from Clearswift the other day:
” ‘EMPLOYEE BLOG FEVER’ HAS SECURITY SIDE EFFECTS“
Run for the hills! We hope Employee Blog Fever is nothing like the ’82 outbreak of Pac-Man Fever. That almost took out Indiana.
Anyway, Clearswift is encouraging employers to address blogging in their acceptable e-mail use policies for worker-bees. Not a bad idea, especially if it’s of the “I Hate My &^%#$%( Job” variety.
“Blogging about company developments is an easy way of generating immediate comment for a very large audience and can be just as damaging as leaking sensitive corporate data to a journalist – even if they are framed as mere personal opinions,” says Alyn Hockey, Clearswift’s director of research.
