Anyone can buy a Mac, but the hard-core among us will just make one – or at least a retro replica.

Wired points the enterprising toward “Apple I Replica Creation: Back to the Garage,” a new book that shows you how – for less than $100 – you can DIY your own Apple I.

Why? Well, because it’s there, we guess. Or, according to Tom Owad, director of the Apple I Owners Club: “With the Apple I, it’s possible to really understand computers.”
