Man almighty, Apple has its panties in a twist lately. First it’s suing fans/bloggers over product information leaks and possibly alienating its cult-like constituency, and now it apparently dropped the hammer on Google.
Tuesday through mid-Wednesday the Google Labs’ home page was an homage to Mac OS X. Icons above the search bar on the home page featured icons representing Gmail, Google Labs, Google Maps, Search, Desktop Search, etc. When you moused over the icons they expanded then shrunk, a clear tip of the keyboard to the Max OS X doc. Just over the copyright notice ran the following: “Roses are red. Violets are blue. OS X rocks. Homage to you.” A screen cap is here.
Cute, right? Not apparently to Apple. Less than a day after it appeared, it disappeared into 404ville with no explanation from Apple nor Google.
