Yahoo’s gone all-in in the free-storage game, announcing it will start offering 1G byte of storage with its free e-mail accounts beginning in mid-April.
That’s just a couple of weeks after Google’s Gmail – which started the whole gigantic-free-storage trend – allegedly goes public on April 1, its first anniversary.
When Gmail debuted in beta last April Fool’s Day, Yahoo’s free e-mail accounts offered a piddily 4M bytes of storage. Since then, Yahoo, MSN, Excite and others have upped their storage capacity, but until now no one equaled Gmail’s 1 gig.
