Best cell phone for spies

We love watching “Alias” for several reasons: pretty people, knock-down fights and, of course, the awesome gadgets.

Last night’s episode, “Tuesday”, was no exception and featured perhaps the greatest cell phone known to man. The Motorola Razr V3 (left) gave our heroine Sydney four bars of signal strength despite the fact she was BURIED ALIVE, IN A BOX, 6 FEET UNDERGROUND, IN A CEMETARY, IN CUBA. That is one kick-ass phone.

Oh, and the Razr also took a perfect photo of her dead box-mate (long story) in the pitch black underground box – sans flash. She was then able to transmit the pic to Good Guy HQ so they could ID him. We need a Razr; we can’t tell you how may times we find ourselves in *that* situation.

We could go on and on – and will. Click the link below to read more about some awesome networking shout-outs in last night’s episode.

  • The episode also featured a hard drive recovered from the Bad Guys. Once the Good Guys plugged it into their network, it exploded and released a nerve agent into Good Guy HQ. Add to shopping list: exploding, virus-filled hard drive.
  • Last night we also learned how to remove an eyeball with a spork, keeping it intact enough to use on the retinal scanner in the basement to gain access to the NOC and disable the Bad Guys’ firewall. Handy. Add to shopping list: spork.
  • The Good Guys jerry-rigged a clamshell cell phone (a Motorola V635, we think) into a gun. Add to shopping list: Motorola V635.
  • For the first two season of “Alias” Nokia was the phone brand of choice for our spies, as that distinctive Nokia ring blared out every 3.5 minutes. It looks like everyone’s switched over to Motorola phones. Not sure if they switched over last season or this one.
