A 21-year-old Kent State junior is holding his own against Microsoft in a legal battle over $143.50 in eBay profits.
David Zamos bought discounted educational editions of Windows and Office XP Pro for $60 at the school’s computer store. After realizing he’d have to reformat his hard drive to install it, Zamos decided to stick with his old apps and return the unopened Windows and Office XP Pro. However, the school wouldn’t accept them, citing an agreement with Microsoft. Even Microsoft wouldn’t offer him a break, despite the company’s 30-day return policy. Zamos eventually sold the software on eBay for a $143.50 profit.
