Geek toys are cross-pollinating with the advent of PalmPod 1.0. The free software, now in beta, lets you transfer your Palm Desktop calendar, todo’s, contacts and memos onto your iPod.

The developer says the product arose from his accidental destruction of his Palm Vx and the realization he no longer had a mobile repository for all his info:

“Now I have all my contacts, calendars, to-dos, and the rest in a portable fashion again via my iPod. Plus, with PalmPod, I can be selective about what I export to my iPod (Remember, the iPod doesn’t have any sort of security mechanism like the Palm OS does to hide private or otherwise personal data).”

Now, if you have a functional Palm device, why would you need another mobile gadget to hold your info? Well, it never hurts to have a second copy.

Requirements and download info are here.
