
The survey by Nielsen Entertainment shows that DVDs outpace both as the #1 monthly entertainment purchase for men. We’re going to guess that “entertainment” category was limited to in-home fun…
Anyway, it seems as if the video game industry is successfully reaching outside its traditional sore-thumbed demographic, as the number of gamers north of the target 8-34 age group is growing.
Some fun facts:
- 24% are over 40.
- 40% of U.S. homes own a PC, game console or handheld gaming device.
- 23% own all three types of gaming gadget and 89% do their playing via a console.
- The PlayStation 2 is the most popular with 57% of gamers. 39% own an Xbox and 27% have a Gamecube. 8% own all three.
