More than two dozen high school students eschewed sleeping late this past spring break to attend a cybersecurity camp held at Mohawk Valley Community College in upstate New York.
According to the AP the teens spent their time: “looking for vulnerabilities in a wireless network by day and watching ‘Patton’ by night.” “Patton”? That sounds like “Manchurian Candidate” territory.
Officials say they wanted to get teens involved with the camp because 80% of hackers are under 18. Exercises included drafting an acceptable use policy for a college or high school, and classes included instruction on digital forensics and encryption.
