The massive success and popularity of Google has spawned a little cottage industry of programmers who take Google’s search engine results, strip the ads and add something different.
Most of the programs are a hobby, like one that presents the most popular Google News headlines of the moment in a graphical interface. Another combines real estate listings from Craigslist with Google maps to let you find properties in your price range and see where they’re located.
What’s interesting is that Google is aware of these sites and doesn’t condone them, but doesn’t go after them either.
