Former Vice President Al Gore is receiving a lifetime achievement award for his contributions to the Internet, which we think is a massive case of negative reinforcement.
It would be even more galling if the award was not a Webby, which is pretty useless and no one cares about anyway. We doubt this honor will make Al’s CV, although these days it just might.
“It’s just one of those instances someone did amazing work for three decades as congressman, senator and vice president and it got spun around into this political mess,” said Webbys chair Tiffany Shlain, who’s still riding the one-trick-pony she created.
Well, maybe it became a political mess because he claimed to have taken “the initiative in creating the Internet” and got called on it.
