The Associated Press reports that the Internet is causing the bike messengerto go the way of the dinosaur.
The popularity and ubiquity of high-speed ‘Net access has allowed many companies who previously used messengers to transfer their documents electronically and spare the roadways of those two-wheeled daredevils.
However, proponents say bike messengers won’t disappear completely as not everything (blueprints, portfolios, etc.) can be sent via the Internet.
“They survived the fax revolution, and riders say they’ll survive broadband Internet as well,” the news agency writes.
Regardless of what happens to the bike messenger we’ll always have their bags and can thank them for that.
