Wal-Mart makes customers race for PS3

After last week, we vowed we wouldn’t post any more PS3 line insanity stories, but this one from Wal-Mart was just too twisted.

Witnesses at a Milwaukee Wal-Mart said store management set up a dangerous musical-chairs-type game, in which they had 50 people race to occupy 10 chairs. Whoever got in the chairs would get the opportunity to buy a $600 PlayStation 3.

“They lined us up,” one witness said. “Then it was like, ready-set-go! I was going to run, but then I saw people getting pushed down and trampled. I thought to myself, ‘no, it isn’t worth that.’ It was like a stampede of wild animals.”

One man was hurt in the melee, and Wal-Mart officials have declined comment.
