AT&T announced today it will deliver to its mMode customers content from RealNetworks RealOne service, including streaming video. AT&T is also working with MSN on a content and applications deal. Like I’ve said before, it’s only a matter of time before some causes an accident because the were watching video on their cell phone instead of the road. Since new phones are required to have some type of GPS technology built in, maybe AT&T and the other vendors can design a system where video is shut off if the phone is moving more that say 5 MPH for more than a minute. This way, if you just move the phone quickly, it’ll still receive video, but if you’re driving, you’re out of luck.
