LSI introduced on Tuesday the LSI Engenio 4900 storage system, which has 8Gbps. Fibre Channel and 1Gbps iSCSI host interfaces. The Engenio 4900 delivers 1.6GBps throughput on sustained reads from disk, a 60% improvement in bandwidth performance compared to its predecessor. The system also delivers over 50,000 IOPS on disk reads, a 25% improvement compared to the previous generation. The 4900 is a modular architecture that allows customers to grow capacity to as much as 112 Fibre Channel or Serial ATA drives, including self-encrypting drives.
