The Environmental Protection Agency yesterday released a list of the Top Purchasers of Green Power.
Intel leads the list by purchasing 1,301,200,000 kWh of wind power, which runs nearly half of its operations. There are other high-tech companies on the list, including Dell, which runs 158% of its operations on bio gas, solar and wind power.
Following is Cisco with 400,996,000 kWh of wind power from Austin Energy and Sterling Planet. Wind power accounts for 46% of its operations. Motorola uses wind power from Native Energy for 20% of its work. And, AMD uses 73,680,000 kWh of wind power for 102% of its operations.
The nation’s top 50 purchasers are buying more than 11 billion kWh of green power annually. That’s the equivalent of the carbon dioxide emissions produced by electricity in 1.1 million American homes.
