* Iomega's StorCenter ix2 and StorCenter Pro ix4-100 NAS products are VMware Ready Certified
Iomega is showing everyone that they understand the heart of small businesses. The company recently introduced a storage package that lets small businesses try out virtualization on their own terms.
Iomega announced that their StorCenter ix2 and StorCenter Pro ix4-100 network-attached storage (NAS) products are VMware Ready Certified. The appliances which start at under $300, allow users to connect to Network File System (NFS) datastores and start with a single virtualized server to host applications such as Microsoft Exchange and SQL Server.
The StorCenter ix2 NAS is a dual drive system; the StorCenter Pro ix4-100 NAS is a quad-drive system. They protect users data with RAID, and provide uninterruptible power supply support in the event of power failures. The ix4 also supports user replaceable hard drives.
Both devices can be paired with a server and support NFS and Common Internet File System file sharing. They support Active Directory, FTP, SNMP and NTP support, as well as quotas and jumbo frames.
The StorCenter ix2 Network Storage appliance is recommended for groups of 12 users or less and is available for $299.95 for 1TB capacity and $479.95 for a 2TB capacity. The StorCenter Pro ix4-100 NAS Server, recommended for up to 25 users, is available in a 2TB unit for $799.95 and a 4TB unit for $1,300.00.
