* Aptare enhances its StorageConsole Virtualization Manager and its Replication Manager

Storage resource management vendor Aptare this week announced its latest version of StorageConsole, software that gives IT managers better visibility into and control of their storage resources.

Aptare StorageConsole 7.0 has a variety of new features, including attention to VMware virtualized servers and NetApp replication environments. The company has enhanced its StorageConsole Virtualization Manager – which lets network managers plan, manage and optimize their storage resources in virtualized environments — and its Replication Manager – which allows IT managers to maximize and improve performance in their business continuity environment.

Aptare also improved the usability of its StorageConsole Web platform and added support for its Capacity Manager and Backup Manager products.

Aptare is definitely making the right moves with its StorageConsole 7.0. It is delivering replication reporting support for NetApp environments and giving customers an intuitive way to mange storage resources not only in the physical world but in the virtual world as well.

In this economic environment, it is critical to understand what storage resources you have and what you don’t. Users have tended to take that for granted in the past.

Aptare StorageConsole Virtualization Manager initially supports VMware ESX environments, version 3.0 or higher, with future support planned for Microsoft Hyper-V and Citrix XenServer. It is integrated with the Aptare’s Backup Manager, Capacity Manager and Replication Manager.

The software costs $1,495 per physical VM server. Aptare StorageConsole Replication Manager starts at $10,000 per storage array.
