In watching the Olympics this week I’ve seen an AT&T commercial that mentions voice over IP – which is pretty remarkable. Of course, the ad makes it sound like the carrier invented VoIP, but seeing those letters in a commercial is certainly proof that VoIP is officially mainstream. Not to be outdone, MCI says it is converting its international voice trunks to use IP, and all sorts of services will follow. A few years ago some were saying we should all have broadband access to the Internet. Today, I’d have to agree. Dial-up is no way to live, man. Finally, it seems that most of America is on board with broadband, as a new survey shows.
