* Survey finds tough job market is driving many professionals back to school

If you’re out of work, now may be a good time to go back to school, or so the thinking goes.

A survey from online job board TrueCareers (www.truecareers.com) found that 61% of professionals see continuing their education as a way to make themselves more marketable in the soft economy.

Conducted in May, the survey is based on 500 respondents. It shows that 35% of individuals are

considering going back to school, while 25% are either attending classes or making plans to

do so in the near future.

TrueCareers President Cecelia Dwyer says, “Completing an advanced degree or retraining for

another career is one way adults are coping with a tough job market.”

According to the Council of Graduate Schools, total graduate enrollment rose by 3% between 2000 and 2001.  What’s more, the Online University Consortium reports that online education programs are growing 60% a year.
