Silicon Graphics Inc. unveiled a mid-range storage array Thursday for attachment to Windows, SGI, Solaris, Linux or NetWare servers.The Total Performance 9300 is a modular 2G bit/sec Fibre Channel array that can be connected directly to a server or to several servers via a Fibre Channel switch.The array has an upper capacity of 16 terabytes and is designed for use in workgroups or departments within large businesses.It includes redundant Fibre Channel drive channels, which support up to 112 drives. Point-in-time software, replication software and mirroring software are available to increase the availability of the box as users desire. Web-based management lets multiple SGI TP9300 and TP9500 be managed together. Further, customers who purchase TP9300s can upgrade to the higher-end TP9500 when desired without reformatting data.The SGI TP9300 storage array is immediately available and starts at $30,000.
