Network World invited all leading enterprise switch vendors to participate in this test. Nonparticipants cited a variety of reasons for begging off.
Alcatel says its 10G Ethernet products won’t be shipping until midyear. Market leader Cisco says it’s between releases, and plans to ship a new 10G Ethernet product sometime this year. We look forward to testing both vendors’ devices once they ship.
Other vendors cited resource constraints, saying they didn’t have the equipment or the people to support this project. These vendors included Enterasys Networks and Extreme Networks. Juniper Networks said the article’s focus on enterprise issues made it inappropriate given Juniper’s concentration on the service provider market.
