This week it is Expand Networks‘ Compass customers’ turn to share their experiences with the Network World community. A long-established player in the distributed application delivery system (ADS) market, Expand got its start in Israel ten years ago, and currently boasts more than 3,000 customers with over 36,000 units installed.
Expand describes Compass as a ‘multi-service integrated platform’ that incorporates QoS, acceleration, CIFS optimization, management, and security. Included among the functions Compass performs are compression, priority handling, bandwidth allocation, application turn reduction, remote file caching, and TCP optimization. Compass accelerates TCP, CIFS, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, DNS, and Citrix traffic. In addition to providing wide area file services (WAFS), it also optimizes voice calls and provides encryption.
The Compass central management platform, called ExpandView, enables enterprises to manage a fleet of Compass appliances, and to monitor network and application performance.
If you have deployed an Expand Compass solution, tell us what you think. Does it live up to your expectations? What were your impressions? A simple “I like it”, “I have mixed feelings”, or “I hate it” response is fine—but if you have insight to share with the community, then talk all you want. You can post a reply to this blog using your name or anonymously.
If you are using a Silver Peak solution, your turn will come in a future blog. If you are using another major vendor’s product, check our previous Wednesday blogs and add your comments.
